5 min readThe Dave’s Gżira outlet is one of the core shops of the Dave’s supermarket chain. This project was entrusted to Refpro to provide and install the refrigeration equipment required to operate the large supermarket.
The project consists of a large quantity of plug-in multidecks, all powered by eco-friendly R290 refrigerant. Areas such as the dairy and drinks sections were fitted with upright frameless glass door plug-in multidecks, while the fruit and vegetable areas were refrigerated with open chillers for better product display. Frozen sections are maintained at sub-zero temperatures with a large plug-in island unit, complete with shelving to maximise both frozen and dry display areas. Fresh goods such as meat and deli items are well displayed and preserved in serve-over plug-in cabinets, whereas cold storage was designed and installed in three cold rooms situated in the back-of-house area of the market.
The result is a large, high-traffic supermarket which demonstrates that even with limited space for services and remote equipment, a plug-in solution can provide a powerful refrigeration system to satisfy supermarket needs.
